New Stamps from Artistic Outpost!

Artistic Outpost just released two new stamp collections today and they are absolutely GORGEOUS! Honestly, these are stamps you need! I did anyway, lol! I am very lucky to call Robyn (one of the owners of AO) a 'real life' friend. We were stamping buddies before she started her company and it has been a thrill to watch her grow and find her niche in the stamping world. These two collections are perfect examples of what a talented artist she is!

This hanging was inspired by a similar piece in Ruth Rae's book - Layered, Tattered and Stitched. I recently bought this book and it is full of amazing projects. Another definite 'must have'! For the background I used the Antiqued Glimmers technique from the Dec/Jan issue of the Technique Junkie newsletter. I made up a bunch of these a few weeks ago and kept them on my worktable, knowing the perfect project would come along for me to use them. This color combination just seemed so perfect with the new stamps.

I stitched the stamped background to a piece of vintage French text, green cardstock, and then to a piece of vintage lace that I stiffened using a fabric stiffener. The corners were sewn to the wire frame using embroidery floss. Whew! And, amazingly, I didn't poke out an eye or lose a finger while making the frame. I definitely need some better wire tools if I'm going to do more work like this in the future though!

Be sure and click on the pictures to see full-size images - it's so hard to show all the little details in the smaller pictures.

  4. Beautiful - I am loving that bird set too! Can never have too many bird stamps right? Although I am looking for a large nest stamp and I have not been able to find one yet - can you tell me the size of the nest in this set?
