12 Tags of 2012 - March

I was so excited to see the tag for this month's 12 Tags of 2012 challenge on Tim's blog yesterday - even better, I was one of the winners for last month! Woo hoo! I about fainted when I saw my name. It was really great to see some of my friends' names up there too!

For this tag, I actually had almost everything Tim used, other than the wood stamp (it's on my list, believe me!) and the Antiquities embossing powder (how cool is that?). Since I knew my 'grout' would have to be metallic, I decided to try giving my tag a bit of an industrial look. The gear background stamp was created by embossing a piece of fun foam with the Sizzix Steampunk Texture Fade and then using it as a stamp. Cool, huh? I came up with that technique (as did many others) a few years ago. It's a great way to make a background stamp out of your various folders!

I will tell you this - I am not a patient crafter. I love the look of this mosaic, but I about lost my mind making it! My paper bits are from Tim's new paper stash - Destinations. So many beautiful papers in that collection! My grout was made by sprinkling silver, Distress Vintage Photo, and Distress Walnut Stain embossing powders randomly over the Wonder Tape. It gives a nice, subdued metallic look. I also used the same powders on the piece on the bottom, as well as the flower.

Thanks so much for visiting - I can't wait to see how everyone else interprets Tim's tag! All the materials I used can be purchased from Inspiration Emporium via the links below. From now until March 4th, they are offering 20% off your order when you use the coupon code leapyear. Go forth and shop!
