So Thankful

Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! The always amazing Karen Burniston recently shared a video tutorial on how to assemble her Raising Platform pop-up die. I love her videos - they make everything so easy to understand. She also shared a card inspired by the artwork that is pictured on the die packaging, which was created by the talented Cara Mariano. I was so inspired by their cards, I decided to make one of my own! Sometimes it's so nice to have a design to follow - the hard part has been done for you and you can just personalize it with your own papers and embellishments.

I decided to make a Thanksgiving card to share with all of you. I am so thankful for your support and sweet comments - they mean the world to me!

Speaking of thanks, I owe a huge thank you to Anita Houston, who inspired me to make these glittery acorns similar to ones she made, that were inspired by my pearl acorns (make sense?!). I wanted to do some like that, and had found the most adorable little acorns, but didn't have the right size pearls. So, instead of removing the nuts, I just covered them with Ranger's Glue 'n Seal and coated them with glitter! They are adhered to the center of an Ornate Plate with Beacon's 3-in-1 glue. Love that stuff for gluing down awkward things like this. I tied the acorn stem with a little piece of idea-ology Paper Twine.

The background is red Kraft Core'dinations that's been embossed with the new Textured Leaves Texture Fade and sanded. Behind the Ornate Plate, I added a frame made from kraft cardstock and rust Kraft Core'dinations that was cut using Karen's Fancy Frames die.

Here is Karen's amazing Raising Platform pop-up! I used paper from Tim Holtz' Seasonal Stash paper collection to line the inside. I added a strip of brown Kraft Core'dinations that was cut using Sizzix' Harlequin Border strip die. For the platform, I made it pretty much as the original card, using kraft cardstock, Kraft Core'dinations, and Seasonal Chitchat stickers from Tim. Since the inside was pretty busy (and I was feeling lazy), I left off the added flower and quote that were on the inspiration cards.

Sometimes with pop-ups, you just have to see them in action. Here is a quick little video I shot so you can see how the Raising Platform mechanism works. So fun! I am excited to use this for Christmas cards too.

Thanks so much for stopping by! Have a wonderful day!
