Wire Cloche Halloween Art Doll

Hi all! Today I'm sharing a project I created for this month's Eileen Hull Inspiration Team challenge - Holiday Jumpstart. After I made my little wire cloche Halloween fairy last month, I noticed that the cloche I made with Eileen's new Twist and Style tool looked a lot like a skirt. After seeing that, I knew I had to make a Halloween witch with a little scene under her skirt!

I love how this turned out! The skirt was made with vintage crepe paper and sparkly tulle from the dollar store. Under the cage I created a spooky little scene using lots of Tim Holtz idea-ology goodies.

Here's a quick look at how I created the cage.

I began by cutting four pieces of black wire 28" long, then folded each one in half and used the Twist and Style tool to twist it. After twisting, I trimmed each piece down to 12", then gathered them and wired them in the center.

I basically followed the same method as I did with the Halloween Fairy, but added two extra wires around the spokes for support and to give it more of a birdcage look.

After my cage was finished, I created the skirt from crepe paper and tulle and wired it to the top of the cage. The witch is a paper doll download that's available on Etsy from RhondasOriginals. She has the most wonderful artwork and includes lots of extra images. I used a tiny bit of tulle to make her a little veil and the bat wings are another dollar store find. So perfect!

The base of the doll is an unfinished wood plaque from the craft store that I painted black. All the bits were glued down with Beacon Quick Grip glue. It's a little hard to see in the photos, but I heated Tim Holtz's new pumpkin pieces with my heat gun for just a sec and cool little bumps formed all over them. Makes them so spooky looking!

The supplies I used can be found at Sizzix and Simon Says Stamp via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. I hope you're inspired to pick up a Twist and Style tool and have some fun! You can see more amazing creations on Eileen's blog.

Inspired by - Halloween Scene

Hi all! It's time once again for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge. This month, the amazing Caz Counsell chose the theme 'Inspired By'. We were to choose a designer and create something inspired by their design. Last month I fell in love with Raquel Mason's spooky cute cemetery scene and wanted to make one of my own, but with a slightly spookier feel.

The base of my scene was made from a disc of dollar store styrofoam that I covered with brown cardstock and painted with a Shabby Shutters Distress Paint dabber. I cut the fence several times from the same cardstock and then painted it with a Brushed Pewter Distress Paint dabber. The tombstones were cut from the same cardstock (brown is so versatile!) using the tombstone die from Karen's Halloween Scene set, and the bottom was sponged with more green paint. The tombstones were embossed with a combination of Wendy Vecchi's Watering Can embossing powder and white ep, to give them the look of stone. It was a bit dark so I sponged on a bit of Picket Fence paint to lighten it, then added a hand drawn border.

I stamped and embossed the 31 plaque using white embossing powder and hung it on the gate with a piece of black wire. Speaking of embossing powder, the theme over at the Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge blog this week is Powder Power, so I'm linking to that challenge as well!

You can find the supplies I used at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Say Stamp via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! I hope you enjoyed my take on Raquel's wonderful creation. And thanks so much to her for providing the inspiration. Be sure and check out Karen's blog tomorrow to see who the other designers were inspired by!

Halloween Cascading Tag Card

Hi all! It's time once again for Karen Burniston's designer challenge. The theme for our first challenge in September is Halloween. Karen has just released some amazing new dies for my favorite holiday, and I couldn't wait to use them! I've been dying to make a Halloween-themed card using her Cascading Tag Card technique and thought it would be perfect for this challenge.

The base of the card is orange cardstock that I stenciled using Karen's new Bats stencil. Over that I added a fence cut with the new Iron Fence Pop Up die. The sentiment was stamped on a panel cut using the label die from her Anita Frames Pop Up set.

Wow! This technique is such a showstopper! On the inside, I used paper from Tim Holtz's new Materialize paper stash for the mechanism, and to decorate the back. It's hard to believe that Karen's Adirondack Chair die is what animates these tags.

The tags were cut from more of the orange cardstock I used for the base, plus the Materialize paper. I used stamps from Karen's new Halloween clear stamp set for the sentiment. The 31 plaque was stamped on black cardstock with another stamp from the set, then embossed with white powder, followed by UTEE,  to give it the look of enamel.

For these tags, I used the spiderweb die from the Halloween Scene set to cut a glittery web. The little witchy boots on the right were cut with dies from the Props 9 set - aren't they adorable?? The ephemera is all from Tim Holtz's Curiosity collection. The glittery black bat and skull washi tape is from Target's Bullseye's Playground (dollar spot). They have some great stuff there!

Here's a view from above so you can see how dimensional it is. Such a fun technique!

And now another view. I had to stop myself from using too many pics! :) I just love how this turned out.

I had to wait to post until my husband came home so he could help with my video. It's so fun to see Karen's dies in action!

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Be sure and check out a very cool (trust me, I've seen it!) card technique from Karen tomorrow, plus loads of spooky inspiration from the whole team.
