Huge Eileen Hull Sale + Mini Book

Hi all! Today I'm sharing a project I made with one of my favorite dies from Eileen Hull - the Passport Book die. It's on sale this weekend at Sizzix for a great price! I love how easy this die makes it to create mini books.

I created a 24 page book by using the die to cut 6 double pages. I nested them in sets of two, then tied them to the binding using Tim Holtz's jute string. The die makes it so easy! I added lots of pockets and chipboard elements using the sets from G45. I added a couple of foldouts to make it more interesting. I could have worked on this for days - it's so much fun!

I kept the cover fairly simple, just added a matted botanical print with a couple elements popped out, and a word band from Tim Holtz.

For the binding, I covered a piece of chipboard with Tim's textile surfaces then cut the piece and adhered it to the front and back covers. I added a border along the front edge. The photos make this book look so big, but it only measures 3.5" x 5".

Pop it Ups Double Z Fold Card Tutorial

Hi all! Today I'm over on the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog with a tutorial for this cool, double z fold card.

I have been wanting to make one of these for ages and thought the combination of Graphic 45's new Nature Sketchbook paper and Karen Burniston's Iron Fence die would be perfect for this card style.

The best thing is that it folds completely flat for mailing!

Pop on over to the ECD blog to see how to create one yourself!

Happy Pi Day!

Hi all! This month the Paper Pros challenge falls on 3-14, which is Pi day. A quick Google search told me that "Pi Day is celebrated on March 14th (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159." Whew! What is means for our challenge is that we were to make something that featured either a pie, or a circle. I decided to make an updated version of a card I did a few years ago, this time using Karen Burniston's Twist Circle Pop Up die set.

A few months ago, Karen posted a video featuring a window technique using this die set. I had been dying to try it and this was the perfect opportunity!

The Twist Circle die is just the coolest, isn't it? Amazing how the pop-up element spirals out when the card is opened. I combined it with Karen's Clock and Gears set, another one of my faves. The gears are all cut from Shimmer Sheetz that were lightly sanded, coated with black paint, and then wiped off. I love the rough, vintage look it gives them.

I think this will be the perfect card for my father or brother's birthday - they both have birthdays at the end of the month - I can't decide who will get it!

So fun!! Below is a list of the Paper Pros - have a peep and see what they came up with for the challenge.

Artful Dwelling Shadow Box

Hi all! It's been ages since I've spent any time in my studio and I've been itching to make something to celebrate the springlike weather we've been having here. I have been seeing so many cute houses using Tim Holtz's new tiny houses die and I was dying to make one. I don't have that die, but I do have his older artful dwellings die (which is on sale at Sizzix right now for just $12!) and decided to make it into a 3D shadow box, which would give me a similar look.

First, I cut the largest house from medium weight chipboard. Then I measured the sides and roof and cut pieces to fit. I also cut a piece to fit the bottom.

Next, I lined up the pieces and taped them in place using masking tape. Very easy! It doesn't matter how the tape looks because it will all be covered up. Now you can go crazy decorating your little shadow box.

I covered the inside of mine with book pages, then brushed over it with a white dabber to lighten the text a bit. I stamped the eggs from Tim's Nature Walk stamp set, and added some stamped text (from an older set by Time to Stamp that's discontinued). The kids are Found Relatives that have been cut out and glued inside the box, along with some moss and a rose adornment. I covered the roof with a piece of metal that I had lying around - it's good to be a pack rat! :) Finally, I dyed a piece of ribbon with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and tied it around the bottom.
