A Very Holtz-y Easter

The latest Martha Stewart Living magazine had an article on embossed eggs and I couldn't wait to try it out using some of the new Tim Holtz products from Inspiration Emporium. I started with a white egg that I'd blown. I had to actually buy eggs - our chickens lay green/blue, pinkish-brown, and dark brown eggs and those just wouldn't work!

First,  I stamped various images from TH's new Papillon stamp set, using Distress embossing ink. Next, I embossed them using Ranger clear embossing powder. Once they had cooled, I covered the egg with my new Broken China Distress Stain. How cool is that??? You can dye eggs with this stuff! After it dried I over-stamped with other images from the set using Denim Adirondack ink. Finally, I added a few flourishes (from the Reindeer Flight set) using Archival ink. I can't wait to try this using some of the other colors - these stains are fantastic!!

    What an Egg-cellent project, It looks Egg-quisite, I mean just Egg-ordinary :Op Thought i'd be the first to get them out the way :D But honestly it is Egg-tremely good :OP

    This is fantastic! I love that you used Tim's stamps, products and techniques but it's so pastel and sweet looking.

    Wow Shelly- I can't believe that you can put an image on the egg and then emboss it without something bad happening to the egg! Amazing and very beautiful.

    That is amazing! I can't believe you can emboss on an egg either, those stains look like a lot of fun to play with.

    Ooh, what a beautiful egg--and what a fantastic idea to try using the Distress Ink as a background--I've painted blown-out eggs over the years, but I will have to try my inks! I don't know how on earth you were able to stamp such beautiful images on a curved surface--I think I would make a mess--but you have done a wonderful job decorating this gorgeous egg!
