Pop 'n Cuts Happy Holidays

Today on the Sizzix blog the Design Team is celebrating Karen Burniston's amazing Pop 'n Cuts card system. I'm sure you already know how much I love PNC, and I definitely went a little crazy with this challenge. I told Karen I think I may have used every die I own! I just can't help it - Sizzix dies inspire me!

To create the front of my card, I embossed the kraft outer card panel with Tim Holtz' Bricked Texture Fade, painted it with a Snow Cap Dabber, and then sanded it lightly. I added a fence cut using  the On the Fence die and a sweet little cardinal that was cut using the new Mini Cardinal and Poinsettia die. Idea-ology Silver Tinsel Twine outlines the card front.

When I first saw the Opening Door die from Karen on a card at CHA, I was totally blown away. When I was thinking about what kind of card I wanted to make, I knew I wanted to do a Christmas/Holiday card because all I could think about was how cute one of Tim Holtz' little idea-ology Woodlands wreaths would look on the door! After I cut the door from chipboard, I added a layer of Shabby Shutters Distress Crackle paint. The wreath was coated with Glue 'n Seal and then covered in Rock Candy Dry glitter and tied with a Crinkle Ribbon bow. The adorable handle was embossed with Ranger silver embossing powder.

How awesome is that opening door?! I can imagine so many cool things behind it. I decided to use another one of my favorite new dies - Christmas Stacked Words. This is another die that will be getting  a lot of use! The 25 above the door was cut from Kraft Core'dinations using the Alphabetical die.

Of course, the Pop 'n Cuts pop-up inside is always the star of the show! Karen recently shared a tutorial for adding a floating floor to the inside of a PNC card. The floor allows you to add more pop-up elements to the base of the card. The adorable stamp of the kids is from Artistic Outpost's Sleigh Ride collection. I decided they should be sledding through the woods, so I added stamped trees behind them (also from AO) and cut chipboard trees using Tim's Mini Pine Tree die. They were covered with Shabby Shutters Distress Crackle Paint to match the door on the front. The floating floor was embossed with the Snow Flurries Texture Fade and coated with Rock Candy dry glitter.

To give more interest to the back, I added two flagpoles that were cut with Karen's Flagpole Strip Die and painted with a silver Adirondack Dabber. I added glittered stars cut with Karen's Sizzlits Party Set that are strung on idea-ology Striped Paper String.

Most of the supplies I used can be found at Inspiration Emporium via the links below. Be sure and use my coupon code - stamptramp - to save 10% off your order. Now is the perfect time to start planning those holiday cards and projects!
