I know it might seem a little early for a New Year's card, but I was so excited about the new Auld Lang Syne stamps from Artistic Outpost, I couldn't wait to use them! I have been wanting a beautiful set of vintage New Year's stamps for ages and these couldn't be more perfect.
The paper I used is from Authentique's Peaceful collection. I think the black, cream, and olive-y green look so pretty together. The frame was cut from chipboard using Karen Burniston's Bracket Frame and Label die and covered with Ranger's new silver Dry Stickles glitter. Love that stuff! The bottom was trimmed with idea-ology Crinkle Ribbon, green Tinsel Twine, and Type Charms (it's hard to see, but it's a 1 and a 3 for the year).
Isn't this the perfect Pop 'n Cuts die for a New Year's card?! I used the companion Sizzlit set - Party Set #2 - to cut stars from white cardstock. I covered them with more gorgeous silver Stickles dry glitter and added them as shown. The streamers were cut from black cardstock using the same Sizzlit set. I love how festive they make the pop-up! The sentiment was stamped on a banner cut from white cardstock using Tim Holtz' Tattered Banners die.
Here's one more shot to show how cute the pop-up is. I love the way the double-sided paper works with these flat PNC dies. So many possibilities! To trim the ends, I cut more black cardstock using the Bracket On the Edge die.

This definetly has the WOW factor!! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAdorable as ever. Questions:
ReplyDelete1) What glue do you use to glitter the star and frame? I'm curious what glue you chose to clover large areas with glitter. My favorite- because I get the most consistently good results- is Martha Stewart Glitter Glue however I hate trying to keep it on hand to use for ONLY glittering large areas. For smaller areas i prefer to use her glue pens because I have more control.
2) I have had trouble with my crease cutting through on Sizzix dies. Tim recommend the Crease Pad- which I had not idea existed until that email. I bought one- they only had the regular width extended size. I tried it with the Snowflake Rosette Sizzlet and it only crested, didn't cut. Help… .I went to the Sizzix website and didn't even find an option for the Sizlette size crease pad. What do you use?
Danee, I really like Ranger's Glue 'N Seal for adhering glitter. It has the little brush on the handle so it's super easy to apply. It also dries fairly quickly.
DeleteI haven't had any trouble with the Snowflake die cutting thru my paper. I usually just use the regular cutting pads on it too, so I don't know what advice to offer on that - sorry! Sometimes it just depends on the paper you're using, etc. With my Vagabond, I haven't had any issues. You might try adding a little shim (like an extra piece of cardstock) with the crease pad. That might give you a little more cutting power.
Love everything about this, Shelly! It's so sparkly, and high-kicky!
