Pop 'n Cuts - Noel

I am so lucky to be surrounded by the wealth of talent that is the Sizzix Design Team. Every day I am blown away by their incredible ideas and original ways they use Sizzix products. When I saw this recent project by Hilary Kanwischer, I about fell over. It's so cool!! I happened to spot the Christmas Trees Framelits die set last weekend at Archiver's and into my basket it went. I saw a 3D card at the store and immediately knew that the tree die would work perfectly for that technique. Inspiration is everywhere!

How much sugary, glittery goodness is this?! Seriously, someone should probably take my Rock Candy Dry Glitter away from me - I'm a bit out of control. I was inspired by this week's Compendium of Curiosities challenge, Texture Fade Techniques, to create the snowy background. I used Tim's Snow Flurries Texture Fade, a Snow Cap Dabber, and Evergreen Bough Distress ink to create it. The tree layers were cut from My Mind's Eye polka dot paper using the Christmas Trees Framelits die. After they were cut, I folded them in half and glued them back to back, creating the 3D effect. After I adhered the tree to the background, I covered the whole thing in glitter.

Of course, it's just not a card unless it's a Pop 'n Cuts! I think the Noel Pop 'n Cuts might be one of my favorites (of course, I do say that about all of them!). What really makes this pop (ha!) is the use of the Noel companion Sizzlits set. I was so happy to find that one of the shades of Tim's Kraft Core'dinations paper matched the MME paper perfectly. I use it to cut the Noel, layered it to the PNC pop-up and added a little Rock Candy Dry Glitter. I trimmed the inside with various papers and stickers from the MME collection. I have a feeling I'll be hoarding that paper!

I couldn't resist one more shot of the front - I am so in love with that glittery tree! The frame around it was cut using Tim Holtz' Cabinet Card and Mini Cabinet Card dies. I originally was going to use the reverse side, but I thought this side was so much prettier. Since a bit of the bird was cut off, I just cut another one from an extra piece of paper and layered it onto the frame, right on top of the other one. On the bottom, I added idea-ology Tinsel Twine and a little crepe paper skirt. The top was tied with Tim's Striped Paper String and an idea-ology Christmas Muse Token.

Most of what I used can be found at Inspiration Emporium via the links below. Remember to use my coupon code - stamptramp - to save 10% off your total!
