Pop-Up Artist Trading Block + New Challenges!

Hi all! Sorry it's been ages since I've posted. This gorgeous weather has been keeping me out of the studio and in the sun! I took a few hours last week to create a fun pop-up ATB that is totally mailable, but will pop back into shape so that the recipient is able to easily display your work of art.

After seeing this tutorial on Splitcoast Stampers, and making a couple of cards from it, I was inspired to try making a pop-up box card using one of Eileen Hull's box dies. I wasn't sure if it would work, but it totally does! And how pretty is that paper created using Tim Holtz's Distress Paint Marbling technique? That's the featured technique over at Linda's new Compendium of Curiosities challenge - make sure you check out all the fantastic submissions.

Here is the card folded flat and ready to mail. The trick is removing the bottom flap, which allows the box to collapse. Below is a quick tutorial if you'd like to try one yourself!

Begin by created a marbled background on white cardstock using Tim Holtz's Distress Paint Marbling technique. Adhere the paper to medium weight chipboard and cut two box panels using Eileen Hull's Square Box die. Remove the third section and flap from one of the panels. Adhere Tissue Wrap to the reverse side and assemble box, leaving the top lid section unfolded, and making sure the bottom is open.

Stamp images from Artistic Outpost's Birds of a Feather and French Flight on Distress Watercolor paper using Watering Can Archival ink. Color images with Distress Markers and cut out.

Adhere strips of cardstock as shown. Die cut various shapes from cardstock and glitter paper and adhere to strips, along with stamped images.

To complete the box, die cut crinoline fabric using Eileen Hull's 3D Pleated Ruffle die and adhere to top edge of box. Die cut a piece of pink cardstock using Eileen's Hydrangeas and Borders die and glue to top of crinoline ruffle. Add a couple flowers, and you're done!
