Mixed Media Monday - Come Fly With Me

This is the first time I've participated in Mixed Media Monday. I always want to, but Mondays seem to be my catch up day for everything but art. Luckily, I was working on this yesterday afternoon and, when I saw the theme, I was like - woo hoo!

When I first saw someone use these Tag Team dies from Cuttlebug, I knew I had to have them. They are just too cool. I just got the butterfly set last week and thought, hmmmmm.....would these work for the Cuttlebug Stamps techie in the new Technique Junkie newsletter? Only one way to find out! I played around yesterday and YES! It works! You can actually make stamps from your Cuttlebug folders!! How cool is that?

My current SU grid pad page (what I use to protect my table when I'm working) was looking very pretty so I decided to do a Worksheet Wonder background and use my CB stamp on top. Most of the stamps are from various Oxford Impressions stamp collections. "Inspire" is stamped on acetate and is from Vickie Enkoff. I sure do miss her. :(

Gothic Arches - Inspired by the Rainbow

For today's Gothic Arches challenge we were to use two colors of the rainbow, two stamps, and an inspirational word. I have been dying to use this background for ages and lept at the chance to use it. I made it a month or so ago using the Two Toned Crunch technique from the Dec/Jan Technique Junkie newsletter. I paired it with stamps from I Brake for Stamps/Time to Stamp. I also used another Technique Junkie tech that will be in the upcoming newsletter. It's called Drywall Stitching and it is such a cool technique!!

Technique Junkie - Sneak Peek!

This is a technique called Cuttlebug Stamps and is featured in the April/May issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter. I'm really proud of this tech - I came up with it! It is a cool way to turn your Cuttlebug folders into stamps. I just bought the new butterfly Tag Team Cuttlebug set and can't wait to see how it will work with this technique! The stamps are all from the new Beau Monde collection from Oxford Impressions.

Theme Thursday - Flowers

For Theme Thursday's Flowers challenge I made a quick ATC. Images are from Lisa's Altered Art - I love her stuff!

Created By Hand Challenge - Blue & Green Combo

When I saw today's Created Byhand challenge, I thought I might try Tim Holtz's Distress Crackle paint resist tech - when I went to his site to view the demo, I found the dabber paint resist tutorial and was totally intrigued! I don't have the dabbers, but I do have a sponge and lots of acrylic paint. :-)

The flourish was first stamped repeatedly on white cardstock with green paint. I then sponged over it (when it was dry) with Broken China and Faded Jeans Distress inks. I added another flourish, overstamped with gesso. Fun technique! Mine is totally different from his example, which shows you can interpret these techs any way you want!

My queen's dress is made from Dollar Store rose petals. Stamps are all from Oxford Impressions. The crown is from my one stop crown shop - RockCandy Studios.

Theme Thursday - Eggs, Nests or Birds

A quick skinny (I'm getting really addicted to these!) for this week's Theme Thursday. I think the background is a Technique Junkie tech called AI Float. I think. Sometimes I make up a bunch of backgrounds and then don't remember which tech I used! I thought it was just perfect with the little boy from Lisa's Altered Art. Stamps are all from Time to Stamp/I Brake for Stamps. I absolutely LOVE Kristy's two bird sheets!

Wednesday Stamper - Skinny

Oxford Impressions has just released yet another set of lovely French stamps! When I saw that the Wednesday Stamper theme was 'skinnies' I knew I had to use them. They are so beautiful and romantic - perfect for Spring! Click to see a larger image. It's hard to see, but I used a bit of Tim Holtz's Distress Crackle paint for my background. I wanted to give it a shabby, distressed look.
