Pop 'N Cuts Naked Anniversary Card

Ha! That title got your attention, am I right? Well, thankfully (for you!), I'm just talking about using Karen Burniston's new Pop 'N Cuts insert without the base die. Since there has been such a huge demand for the Pop 'N Cuts system, some people are having a hard time finding the PNC starter die set. As Karen shows us in the video below, you can still buy and use the various inserts, even if you don't have the PNC base die (yet!).

To test this out, I decided to try it on an anniversary card for my husband. I wanted to make him something with a picture of us that he could keep on his desk. An added bonus - when people ask him, 'what exactly does your wife do?' he could just point at it!

The outer panel of my card was made using paper from Tim's Lost and Found Paper Stash. Over that I layered a panel that was embossed using the Subway Texture Fade. I created a frame out of black Kraft Core'dinations by cutting it with the Sizzix Ornamental die and the Movers and Shapers Mini Ornamental die. The inner piece was covered with a vintage dictionary page. The heart was cut from cardboard using the Love Struck die. I painted it with a Red Pepper Dabber, then heat embossed the sentiment. My painted heart makes this card perfect for this week's Simon Says Stamp and Show Paint challenge!

One of the benefits of using the PNC inserts alone is having the ability to create a larger card. I love this frame (cut in the same manner as the front panel) and would never have been able to fit it into an A2 size card. The inside panel was cut from kraft cardstock using Karen's instructions. I colored it using Brushed Corduroy Distress Stain and then stamped it with Tim's Woodgrain stamp. I added strips cut from painted kraft paper using the Vintage Lace die. I thought the square edges were a little boring, so I cut both the inner and outer panels using the Sizzix Brackets On the Edge die. Finally, I added a little panel cut from black Kraft Core'dinations using the label die from Karen's Label and Ribbon set.

This is my absolute favorite thing on this card (other than my husband!). It's an adorable paper clip made using Karen's Sizzlits Love die set. How cute/clever/awesome is that die?! The clip was created by cutting kraft cardstock and then painting it with a Pitch Black Dabber. There is a heart in the set that perfectly fits into the space on the clip. So, I cut that one out of kraft and painted it with a Red Pepper Dabber. I used the Alphabetical die to cut numbers to represent how many years we've been married. I still can't believe I've now been married exactly half my life!  :)

To finish off the card, I added some of Tim's new Striped Paper String and tied on a Word Stick and a key. I gave this to my husband last night and he loved it!! You can't go wrong with a dark card with lots of metal and wood grain - men love that stuff. :)
