Happy Monday, everyone! I hope those of you in the US had a great Thanksgiving, and everybody else had a wonderful weekend. It's time again for Karen Burniston's Designer challenge. This month she told us that, "anything goes!" so I chose one of my favorites, the Funky Label insert. One of my favorite things about this die is that it has a matching Framelits set, and I knew I had the perfect Santa stamp from Artistic Outpost to frame .
Isn't that Santa the best?! To create a frame, I nested two of the Funky Labels Framelits together and cut a piece of thin chipboard. I painted it black, sanded it and adhered it to the card with foam dots. The front of the tag was embossed with Tim Holtz's Snowflake Texture Fade, and the raised portion painted with white paint. After it dried, I sponged over it with brown ink and then wiped it off. I wanted it to have a little sparkle, so I applied embossing ink and Ranger's Sticky embossing powder. After I heated it, I sprinkled on Rock Candy Distress Glitter. So pretty!
Here is the inside of the card. I am totally obsessed with Artistic Outpost's new Christmas Chalk rubber stamp set and wanted to use this one on the inside, but it was a bit to big for the pop-up. To get it to fit, I used the Framelits die in the next size up to cut a panel to cover the original pop-up. You really can't tell that it's different, because the shape is mimicked perfectly.
I stamped the sentiment on black cardstock and embossed using Ranger's Weathered White Antiquities embossing powder. I rubbed chalk over the stamped image to make it look more chalkboardish. I was going to emboss a snowflake, but it turned out wonky. Since I was stamping with Versamark, it gave it a watermark look, which I loved (there are no mistakes!). I stamped it all over the panel and then added a banner, greenery and a number die cut from foil covered paper.
Oh, and I totally forgot to add the the inside of the card was cut using the new Ornate Square base. It just happens to fit perfectly inside the tag! I trimmed it down and then added a pretty border cut from vintage French book pages using one of the borders from Karen's Banners and Borders set.
Guess what? Inspiration Emporium is having a Cyber Monday sale right now! A lot of what I used is on sale too. You need to head over there to score anywhere from 25-50% off regular prices. If you miss the sale, you can still save 10% off your total order by using my coupon code - stamptramp. Have fun shopping!
Thanks so much for stopping by! I have a bunch of new projects this week - some VERY exciting things that you will be seriously freaking out about. I promise! :)
