Pop it Ups Cardmaking eBook Project

Hi all! Today I'm sharing the card I created for Karen Burniston's new Pop it Ups Cardmaking eBook. This new eBook was just released and is full of inspiration from Karen and the whole Designer Challenge Team.

My card features the new Hot Air Balloon die set - on of my favorites from the new release. I have been dying for a die like this and was so excited when Karen decided to create one!

Not only is the new die set a very cool pop-up, but if you'd rather use it on a simple card or tag, it works great for that too. Here, I've mixed a lot of different mediums - burlap paper, kraft core'dinations, and glitter paper - to created a sparkly, pretty balloon. Imagine taking this in a steampunk direction, though. How cool would that be?! (You may be seeing that here very soon)

One of the things I love about Karen's dies is how well they all work together. I used the banner dies from the Lots of Pops set to create a cut little bunting that hangs behind the balloon, and one of the tag dies from the Tags Pivot die set for the sentiment. So pretty!

All the dies I used can be found at Elizabeth Craft Designs via the links below. The rest of the supplies can be found at Simon Says Stamp. Unfortunately, I think the paper from My Mind's Eye (Up and Away) has been discontinued, but you may be able to find it at your local store.

New Stampers Anonymous - Industrial Tag Card

Hi all! Today I'm sharing one of my favorite CHA samples created with some of the new Stampers Anonymous products from Tim Holtz. I am so in love with how this turned out! The new Industrial Layering Stencil is just so cool with the perfect combination of grungy words and numbers. And this was probably the easiest card I made. All I did was lay the stencil over a manila tag, applied Ranger's Texture Paste, and let it dry. When it was dry, I spritzed it with various Distress Stain Sprays. When that was dry, I sanded the texture a bit, added some Ground Espresso Distress Ink, and my tag was pretty much done!

How gorgeous is that grungy texture?! Since I wanted to keep the focus on the stencil, I didn't add much in the way of embellishments. I added bit of black twine and a word band adhered with the tiny attacher, then layered it to a piece of black kraft core'dinations. The little belt embellishment was made with a strip of the new substrate sheets stamped with the new mosaic stamp.

New Release From Tim Holtz - Dapper

Hi all! I'm so excited to share this project I created for Tim Holtz's idea-ology booth. The new line is called Dapper and it's the perfect blend of vintage masculine elements. I was in love with it the minute I laid eyes on it!

When I was planning my mini configurations book, I really wanted it to look like an old cigar box that had been turned into a shadow box. On the left side, I created a blotter using Tim's new substrate sheets. Let me tell you, this material is amazing! Doesn't it look like leather? I can't wait to share more projects using it.

After I arranged the boxes on this side, I had to start thinking of what would go in them - no easy task! It was fun to play around with all the new bits, seeing how they looked together. My favorite section is the mini book niche. I was excited to see that the sophisticate cabinet card fit perfectly in the opening. Then I spotted the new mini book rings and the gears started turning. A strip of the new paper with the ruler image was used to create a faux wood ruler that the book dangles from. So cool!

Here is the cover of the book lifted so you can see the first page. There are five all together, but you could definitely fit more in that space! I love the idea of a book within a book and can't wait to play with that idea more. Other openings hold the new findings mixed with some of the older idea-ology pieces like pen nibs and letterpress letters. Another of my favorite sections is the burlap panel. It's hard to see, but behind the gears I used Tim's new Industrial layering stencil and distress stain spray to color the panel. I hated to cover it up! But those new gears are so cool and work perfectly there.
