Happy 4th of July to you all! This month's challenge over at the Inspiration Journal blog is Red, White, and Blue. I thought this Graduated Star Album from the Technique Junkie Mini Album Mania CD would be perfect for this challenge!
I created this for my son Luke's graduation from Air Force basic training. I will admit, I'm not much of a scrapper, but this was really fun to do! The cover was created with a panel from the idea-ology Season Paper Stash. I added a little border on the top and bottom that I cut using the Sizzix Mini Scallop and Pinking On the Edge die. The title was created by cutting a piece of corrugated cardboard with the Mini Baroque die, then inking the edges with Faded Jeans Distress ink. The letters were cut from cardstock using the Chip Block die, and then given a coating of Glossy Accents. Finally, I added a little banner cut using the Tattered Banners die.
I kept my pages pretty simple, choosing to have the focus on the photos vs. a lot of embellishments. The background was created by stamping the grid from the Mixed Media set with a Snow Cap Dabber, and the star was stamped randomly using Faded Jeans Distress ink.

I really like how the album turned out! and thanks to your son for serving our country. =)
ReplyDeleteLove the mini-album--and congratulations to your son--I remember when my son graduated from basic training when he was in the Navy; it was super cold that day in Great Lakes, IL but we were so proud! Have a great weekend coming up!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your son, Shelly! What a wonderful album you made for him. Can't wait to see what you will come up with next.
ReplyDeleteThis brought tears to my eyes, as we were there for our son's graduation a year ago, April 2011. We pulled in just as the coin ceremony got started, and there he was, on the end, 10 feet from me. He didn't know we were there until they told them to wait for a family member to touch them... surprise! Yes, their first day off base was great too... a steak dinner was the request. Congratulations to your son, and GO AIR FORCE!!
ReplyDeleteAwww...I know the feeling. Your comment brought tears to my eyes too! I'll bet he had a few himself...I know mine did at that moment. :)
