The idea was inspired by the recycled sweater ornaments I've seen on Pinterest. I love the cozy feel of them and thought that Tim Holtz's Holiday Knit stencil combined with craft store felt might just give me the look I wanted. Here's how I made it:
Cut a piece of cream felt large enough to cut the large Star Bright star from. Stencil sweater pattern onto felt using Red Geranium Archival ink (you'll have to slide the stencil over to create enough pattern to cover the star). Let dry.
Next, cover the back of the felt with a solid piece of Ranger's Wonder Tape.
Cut a piece of lightweight chipboard using the Star Bright die. Cut the felt with the same die and trim the tabs. Remove the backing from the Wonder Tape and adhere to the chipboard star.
To create a base for the star, cut a piece of burlap paper using the Star Bright die. Adhere the felt-covered chipboard star to the burlap. Punch a hole and tie with red ribbon. Thread a length of jute string through a button and adhere to the center of the star.
How sweet is this fuzzy little star?! I think the softness of the felt plus the stenciling makes it look just like an old sweater. Perfect for my cozy woodland tree!
