It seems like it happens every year...I keep up with the tags until the end, and then I start falling behind. As anyone who has been keeping up can tell you, it takes a lot of time to do these each day! At some point you do have to actually get some work done, feed your family, etc. I stole a little time today to work on #10 and #11, but only managed to get this one done.
I had tried the tape transfer technique before, but never got great results. Mine came out this time, but for some reason I am very challenged when it comes to gluing stuff to Fragments! For that reason, I decided to do just one and doll it up with a Sizzix Paper Rosette die. Behind the rosette, I added a border cut using the Sizzix Vintage Lace die - I just found this technique in the latest issue of the Technique Junkie Newsletter and couldn't wait to try it! The tag background stamp and holly stamp are both from Tim Holtz's Mini Holidays 3 stamp set.
To finish off my tag I added some tinsel garland, tulle, a dyed ribbon, and more pearl acorns. I tried to resist using them, but they're so adorable!

Gorgeous tag!! Love the acorns, can't get enough of them:).
ReplyDeleteThis is gorgeous Shelly...maybe my favorite of yours so far!!! I love the ornament and how you put snow around it...cool!!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Your acorns are the perfect touch!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous elegant tag! Love the touches of silver through out the tag. The pearl acorns are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. I must get me one of those rosette dies pronto! Super colors, super job.
ReplyDeleteI know exaclty what you mean about having no time for fun in the craft room. Today I found a few minutes to cut out some tags with my cricut!!!
Hope you get more time cause you're work is lovely.
Laura
Wow, simply amazing! Your rosette and Santa fragment are a winning combination - and your gluing looks just fine to me! Love your color palette and beautiful music sheet background.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about falling behind with everything else. It is my first year to participate and I think I became obsessed to the exclusion of everything else. Had to take time off from the tags this weekend to catch up on the rest of my life!
Hugs
Linda
So wonderful- I LOVE the pearl acorns and the bow. I think this is one of my fav's so far- love the rosette too!
ReplyDeleteI don't need to stay up to see Tim's tag tonight ... I'll go to bed happy after seeing this one! It's gorgeous!I love the acorns! I know what you mean about keeping up .... you've made it a lot further than me ... too many other things demanding my attention! Fabulous art, Shelly!
ReplyDeleteOh Shelly, I'm falling behind also.. I keep telling myself that there is no rush, just enjoy. Your colors are exquisite!! I'm glad you are still using your acorns...I'm totally loving mine.
ReplyDeleteOh Shelly this is superb, I love how you used the Rosette Die, this is just wonderful, thanks for sharing. it is hard to keep up, I am 2 behind so far, mainly because I don't have all the goods.
ReplyDeleteWell I think it looks amazing on the rosette - what a great idea! I have managed to keep up (with just today's to go!) this year but have got glitter all over the place! What day did we use glitter, lol!!
ReplyDeleteI love this tag! Absolutely gorgeous!!
ReplyDeleteAnother fabulous tag, Shelly!!!
ReplyDeleteI like how you made your fragment really pop by using the rosette. Lovely tag!
ReplyDeleteThis is a beauty, Shelly. Love the use of the rosette!
ReplyDeleteShelly, I love that you give us a twist on each of Tim's tags. Your take on Day 10 is lovely. And I can understand why you start to fade toward the end. These tags are so labor intensive I can't begin to keep up and I don't even have a family to take care of now. Will look forward to seeing the last two when you have time to finish them.
ReplyDeleteAs if the pearl acorns weren't cute enough, now gilded little pearl acorns! I love it! Thanks for sharing the vintage lace diecut with the rosette technique, love that too! I hadn't 'needed' the vintage lace die until now! Enabler! :)
ReplyDeleteA wonderful, wonderful tag, Shelly--just fantastic!
ReplyDeleteShelly, you constantly amaze me with your stunning art. I love what you did here with the rosette and the antique lace border. So clever and beautifully done. I too was keeping up pretty good every day up to Day 10 then plum got tired and had to take a break.
ReplyDeleteVery pretty, Shelly. I certainly could not keep up with Tim, and it's only me, hubby and 3 horses to care for. Love how you incorporated the rosette die. This tag of Tim's (and your version) is a favorite...and maybe I can make it before Christmas! Charlotte

ReplyDeleteHello Shelly,
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you do it every time, but you did it again :)
Real nice tag and I love the lace trim behind the rosette !!
I bought the technique junkies CD and I'm working on several projects from it.
Maybe I should take a subscription for this too...
greetings from Belgium
Inge
