Bridal Shower Pop-Up Card

This past weekend I flew out to Sacramento for my daughter Olivia's bridal shower. It was thrown by her fiance's mother and her friends and it was fantastic! Definitely a weekend that I'll always treasure. Before I left, I really wanted to make her a card to go with my gift. I love Karen Burniston's Circle Platform With Ribbons die and decided to use that to create a quick card. I only had an hour or so to get it done - that's very fast for me!

For the front, I wanted to make a little wedding dress. I used Tim Holtz' Mini Sewing Room die to create the dress form. For the skirt, I cut a coffee filter using Karen's Ornate Plate die, folded it in half to create tiers, and tucked it behind the form.

The Circle Platform is the perfect die to create a huge impact with very little effort! After cutting the Ornate Plate piece for the dress, I thought it might make a really cool stamp. I hunted all over but couldn't find any foam in my studio. So, I grabbed a piece of Grungeboard and cut it from that. I wasn't sure how it would stamp, but as you can see, it worked great! I lightly coated it with the new Picket Fence Distress Paint and stamped it randomly inside the card. After cutting the pop-up pieces from patterned paper, I added a stamped banner that was cut with Tim's Tattered Banners die.

Here's a quick little video to show the motion of the card. So pretty! I just love this die.

Here are a few pics from the shower. It was so beautiful and so much fun!

This is my sweet daughter opening her gifts. It was absolute heaven to get to spend a long weekend with her - many tears were shed when we had to part. I can't wait for next month when we'll fly out again for the wedding!

Isn't this arrangement gorgeous? One of the hostesses created these for the tables. All the flowers came from the farmers market and she did an incredible job arranging them. I love the glitter in the water too. So pretty!

Oh yes...mimosas were definitely one of the highlights too! Judging by the blurriness of this pic, I must have already had my fair share. ;-)

My daughter's future MIL's sister made these amazing cake pop favors. They tasted even better than they looked! I have a major cake pop addiction, thanks to these wicked things. Yum!

Thanks so much for letting me share all these little wedding things with you - obviously I'm a little excited! :)

Pocketwatch Engagement Mini Album

Hi everyone! I wanted to share a project that I have on the Sizzix blog today. It's a mini album that I created using Tim Holtz' new Pocket Watch Frame die. I have to say, this is probably one of my favorite projects, ever!

By stacking the die cuts, I was able to create a deep niche, perfect for holding engagement photos of my daughter, Olivia, and her fiance, Rickie. The wedding is next month - I'm so excited! This weekend I'm heading to Sacramento for her shower and this will make a perfect gift for her future mother-in-law. Make sure you pop over to the Sizzix blog to see the full, step-by-step tutorial.

Of course, I had to make a short little Vine video - I love being able to show how it looks in person. So much better than just photographs!

Thanks so much for stopping by - have a great week!
