Graphic 45 Rare Oddities Pop it Ups Tent Card

Hi again, everyone! I'm back today with my second card for Karen Burniston's Designer Challenge. This card was inspired by my wickedly talented teammate, Frances Byrne. A couple months ago, Frances came up with the idea to turn Karen's Oval Accordion die into a tent card. Brilliant, right? Ever since I saw it, I've been dying to try one. This month's challenge was the perfect excuse!

I cut the front of the card from Graphic 45's Rare Oddities 6x6 paper using the Pop it Ups Accordion Oval die and cut out the inner oval. The back was cut from the book-themed paper from the 8x8 pad. I decorated the front with Karen's Oval Flourish Frame Edges that I covered in Elizabeth Craft Designs' Black Microfine Glitter. I love the subtle shimmer it gives the card.

All the little pieces in the tent were fussy cut from Graphic 45's 8x8 paper pad. To finish off the card, I added a little Rare Oddities sign that was stamped using the coordinating stamp set. If I'd had more time, I would still be working on this - it's so much fun to keep adding and adding all those little elements!

The supplies I used can be found at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Says Stamp via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today - I hope you enjoyed my spooky apothecary tent card. Be sure and check out the Elizabeth Craft Designs blog tomorrow for a fantastic video tutorial from Karen plus lots of amazing inspiration from the team!

Karen Burniston Designer Challenge - Celebrate!

Hi all! Today I'm sharing a fun accordion album card that I created for September's Karen Burniston Designer Challenge. This month our theme was 'Celebrate' and we were also supposed to use one of the various frames that go with the accordion dies.

I had just received Karen's new Gift Card Accordion and Flourish Gift Frame dies and couldn't wait to use them. These dies will be available at the end of October and I know you're going to love them! I combined them with the trees from the Evergreen Pivot Card set and the sentiment from the new Merry Christmas Pop Up set. The card base is kraft cardstock. The frame was cut from adhesive-backed glitter paper. After each panel was decorated, I adhered them together and was done. So quick and easy. I love that this is so dimensional, yet folds flat for mailing. Who wouldn't love to display this card - it's a gift in itself!

The supplies I used, other than the new dies, are available at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Says Stamp via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Come back tomorrow for another challenge card!

Elizabeth Craft Designs End of Summer Sale!

Hi all! I have another great sale to share with you. Elizabeth Craft Designs is having a one-day End of Summer Sale and it includes a lot of my favorite dies!

One of my faves - the Butterfly Pivot Card - is 30% off right now. I love the versatility of this die. The card above was an adaptation of Summer Hills-Painter's amazing Heart Pivot Shutter card and I think the Butterfly Pivot works beautifully here.

For this pretty watercolor card, I used the dies from the Butterfly Pivot set on their own - combining them with the spiral from the Spiral Circle Pull Card set to give them a fluttery look.

Finally, here is yet another way to use the dies. I used my Faux Tarnished Silver technique to give the filigree butterfly from the set a metallic look. Love it on this tag!

The Butterfly Pivot Card die set is just one of dozens of dies that are on sale today. Click HERE to shop the sale. It ends at 1:30 AM MDT on Tuesday, September 8, so don't delay!

Boo! A Few of My Favorite Sizzix Halloween Projects

Hi all! With the big Sizzix Labor Day sale going on this weekend, I thought it would be fun to share a few of my favorite Halloween projects that use some of the sale dies. This is the perfect time to stock up on dies for holiday crafting!

The first card I'm sharing is one that was created for one of Tim Holtz's stamp releases, but I don't think I ever shared it on my blog. It uses Tim's Headstone die, along with the Graveyard On the Edge die, plus the 31 Movers and Shapers die, and the Cobwebs Texture Fade.

Eileen Hull's Cupcake Stand is so fun to use in different ways, depending on the theme you want. Here, I've added a dollar store candle holder to make a fun Halloween cloche. Super easy, quick and cute - this is one of my all-time most popular posts! You can find more HERE.

This is such a fun card! It combines a bunch of the dies that are on sale - one of them is the Artful Dwellings die that can be used for tons of different projects. Click HERE to read how I made it.

This chunky tag is one of my favorite projects from a few years ago. It uses the Boo die that I totally fell in love with the minute it came out. It's one of those dies that I will never part with! You can see the original post for this HERE.

To shop the sale, click the image below. Have fun!

For even more spooky inspiration, click HERE to see all of my Halloween-inspired posts. And you know I have loads of projects using Tim's other dies as well - just click HERE to see everything tagged with TH!

Thanks so much for stopping by today - enjoy the rest of your holiday weekend!

Frilly and Funkie - A Touch of Gold

Hi all! It's time for another great challenge over at the Frilly and Funkie blog. The fabulously talented Georgie is our hostess and her chosen theme is A Touch Of Gold. Metal elements, glitter, embossing powder, paint, ribbon, whatever it is let's see a splash of gold in your vintage or shabby chic projects!!

After a few starts and stops, I ended up creating this wall hanging featuring some of my favorite Tim Holtz stamps. The main panel is a piece of watercolor paper that I colored using the wrinkle-free distress technique. On top of that I added the gorgeous woman stamped with Watering Can Archival ink and some faint script using the same ink. The sentiment (one of my faves) is also stamped with Watering Can. I stamped the flourish in a couple places using Potting Soil Archival ink. After adding a bit of tape and a layered metal flower (one of my gold touches), I stitched the panel to a piece of white cardstock and roughed up the edges.

The base of the panel is burlap paper adhered to medium weight chipboard. To add another gold element, I applied Texture Paste to the burlap followed by gold embossing powder. After the paste dried, I heated the powder to melt it. Such a cool technique from Tim! To complete the burlap layer, I dabbed Picket Fence Distress paint around the edges.

To finish my hanging, I layered the stitched panel with a bit of torn cheesecloth and adhered it to the burlap base. I punched a couple of holes in the top, threaded it with seam binding, added a Word Stick and I was done!

All the supplies I used can be purchased at The Funkie Junkie Boutique via the links below.

Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope you can join in with our Touch of Gold challenge. There is a fantastic prize for one lucky winner. Read all about it here. Good luck and have a fantastic week!
