The Chemist's Laboratorie

Hi all! I thought I'd start sharing some of my CHA projects with you - giving more thorough instructions how each piece went together.

This card was one of my favorites. I love how all the different elements - stamps, dies, and embellishments - work together. Brett Weldele's new Chemist rubber stamp is definitely the star of the show and was fun to create a little story around.

The base of the card is black Kraft Core'dinations. On top of that I layered one of the papers from Tim Holtz's new Laboratorie Paper Stash. Next, I cut a frame from medium weight chipboard using the Postage Frame with the largest of the Sized Rectangles. It's painted with Black Soot Distress Paint and then sanded.

Behind the frame, I added an embossed panel that was painted and then layered with gears that were cut from chipboard using the Gadget Gears and Mini Gears dies. They were all painted with metallic Distress paint. The little bottle was tinted with alcohol ink and a Screw Eye was attached to the cork. It dangles from a ring fastener that is threaded through several gears.

Aren't these bottles cool?! They were cut from Grungeboard, inked with Gathered Twigs Distress ink, and then covered with a light coating of Glossy Accents. When that dried, I added two of the new labels from the Apothecary Remnant Rubs set and tied one with Paper String. Behind that is more Paper String and some of the new Black and Cream Trimmings.

Here is another shot of the card as it was displayed in the idea-ology booth. It's such a cool card that isn't too specifically 'Halloween'y' or spooky, just kinda dark and mysterious!
