Altered Designer Paper (from the April/May '09 Technique Junkie newsletter) is one of those techniques that is so handy to have in your repertoire. It is a great way to use paper that you love, but doesn't quite fit the mood of the card you'd like to create.
The Birds of a Feather stamp collection from Artistic Outpost is perfect for Spring cards. I created the tissue paper flowers out of necessity - I wanted something light and airy to echo the feeling of softness I was trying to achieve and regular paper or silk flowers just looked too heavy. I love the softness these give the card!
You're so right about the flowers, beautiful card!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a fantastic card.

Shelly I do believe you are one of the few who can make Grunge look pretty! Another masterpiece!
ReplyDeleteYou are the mother of invention! Love it.
ReplyDeleteLovely technique. I've softened paper with white craft ink, but I haven't tried the gesso yet. Thanks for the tip.

I don't think I've seen a soft blue card for....forever! It's gorgeous, Shelly! I would guess that the wonderful tissue flowers would fit in an envelope more easily, as well. You did such a beautiful job with this image and this technique.
ReplyDeleteLove those tissue paper flowers. Very pretty piece.
ReplyDeleteOh this is gorgeous!!! I'm going to have to dig through the piles of books on my desk and find that newsletter! Love all your recent work! By the way, I'm celebrating my 3 year blogversary and having a giveaway ~ pop over if you'd like to sign up! :) Marva
ReplyDeleteSweet and lovely! I'm not a big fan of the color blue, but this card is gorgeous.
