I am way behind on Tim's tag this month, but I had a free day today and decided I would experiment with something I've really been wanting to try! I'm sure most of you have been wowed by Karen Burniston's Accordion 3D Flip die. If you haven't, you will be! Recently, she shared a variation where she folded the paper and made a double-high version of the die. I was really intimidated by the process for some reason, and put off trying it. Tim's tag gave me the perfect excuse to stop being a baby and try it out...and it wasn't hard at all!
I basically followed Tim's template, changing a few things here and there - it's never fun to just totally copy someone else! I don't have the new tassel die yet, so I cut my own grass from a green piece of the new Core'dinations Seasonal Impressions paper. I love the extra little flourish on it. My bow was done exactly as Tim showed, but I used Worn Lipstick Distress Stain on mine. So pretty! The panels on the outside edges were cut using Karen's Bracket Frame and Label die. The inside panels were cut using the same die. It's really an essential die if you have the Accordion die - makes decorating the panels a breeze!
Here is the card opened. How cool are those floating panels?! I will never tire of watching this card open and close. It's just such a fantastic die. To give a little interest to my panels, I embossed the Core'dinations paper with the Springtime Texture Fade. To carry the color over from the left panel, I stained a piece of white cardstock with Worn Lipstick Distress stain and cut the banner using the Tattered Banners die.
I absolutely adore those painted metal flowers!! I wasn't sure about them until I was done, but I think they are just such a cool element. And the Distress Paints - wow! I have waited so long for them and I couldn't be happier. They are a definite must-have!
Here's a quick (very) little video I took to show how it opens and closes:
