Pop it Ups Designer Challenge - Artsy

Hi all! It's that time again - time to share my cards for Karen Burniston's Pop it Ups Designer Challenge! This month was a very fun one for me. We got to choose between doing a cutesy card or an artsy card, or both. I was so ecstatic! A challenge made just for me. I have a very cool card in the works for tomorrow, so today I thought I'd share one of the cards I created for the Elizabeth Craft Designs CHA booth using Karen's new Tag Pivot die. I think this is just about the most awesome die of all time and I am going to be wearing it out!

I took a quick pic of it while I was working on it, just to show you how I made the inked background. After cutting Ranger's manila cardstock to A2 card size, I sponged on various colors of Distress ink. I stamped the number image from Tim Holtz's Mercantile stamp set and stenciled the gears using a Stencil Girl stencil. After all my stamping and stenciling, I scored it and cut the pop up element using Karen's die.

I cut tags from various materials - black Kraft Core'dinations, cork, and a piece of French text. It's so fun to mix and match the tags on this die.

The gears were cut from cardstock that was covered with metal foil tape. I aged them by covering them with Black Soot Distress paint and then wiping it off. Finally, I added strips of Tim's Tissue Tape and a length of idea-ology Jute String.

Here's a quick video showing the card in action. How great would this be for Father's Day or a masculine birthday?

Great news! Simon Says Stamps is now carrying Karen's latest dies. You can find them, and most of the other supplies I used there via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today. Make sure you come back tomorrow for a fun card that's full of motion (one of my favorites yet!).
