Pop it Ups Designer Challenge - Flower or Flour

Hi all! Today I'm sharing a fun Halloween card that I created for the first Karen Burniston Pop it Ups Designer Challenge of August. Our theme was 'flower or flour'. We could choose from either and, as you might be able to tell, I chose flower. But this is definitely not a pretty, flowery, feminine card! I had the idea to turn Karen's new Flower Pot Pop Stand into a spooky tombstone and I'm so thrilled with how it turned out!

To make the flower pot look like a tombstone, I left the flaps on the pot up. I used the back side of the pot, since the score lines are more faint on that side. It still works perfectly and after all the inking and distressing, it's impossible to see that there was ever a line there. I cut the pot from gray cardstock and added lots of Distress ink, and spritzed it with Distress Spray Stain. I added a bit of green embossing powder to give the look of moss.

After the tombstone was created, I got busy adding all the spooky die cuts made with dies from the Halloween Scene set. The little skeleton is from a Tim Holtz stamp set and the ghost was traced onto acetate from clip art I found online.

The most amazing thing about this die is that the box completely collapses when the card is closed, then pops into action when the card is opened. I can't tell you how excited I am by this die!!

The Flower Pot Pop Stand plus the new dies and stencil I used should be available very soon. The rest of the supplies are available at Elizabeth Craft Designs and Simon Says Stamp via the links below.

Thanks so much for stopping by today! Make sure you check out Karen's blog tomorrow for more flower and flour inspiration.
