Steampunk'n!

In my last post, I mentioned that I have a 'gift' for turning a theme into something Halloweeny. That is nothing compared to my ability to turn any theme into something Steampunky! This week's Compendium of Curiosities challenge is to create something using Tim Holtz's Riveted Patchwork technique. I decided that I would combine my favorites and make something Halloweeny and Steampunky!

And I do love my little guy...even if he looks a bit like a bell pepper instead of a pumpkin. His eyes were made with various idea-ology bits and the mouth was created with staples.

I replaced the stem with an idea-ology Clock Key and added some foil leaves (cut with the Sizzix Autumn Gatherings die) and some tendrils made from copper wire.

I'm sure Eileen Hull never imagined her adorable Cupcake Stand would end up holding a grungy pumpkin, but I thought it made the perfect pedestal for him! It was cut from chipboard and painted with Copper and Pitch Black Dabbers. Gears were cut from foil-covered chipboard to create a base.

Hope you like my transformed dollar store pumpkin! With the exception of the Cupcake Stand, all the supplies I used can be purchased at Inspiration Emporium via the links below. Don't forget to use my coupon code - stamptramp - to save 10%!

  4. Hi Shelly, you have used one of my all time favourite techniques from Tim in such a creative way, creating such a wonderful altered pumpkin. Love his stapled mouth and cogs as a base and I think the stand is perfect. Love the added leaves and coiled wire too. Wonderful. Tracy x

  30. I began at Anne's Blog (AnnesPaperCreations) and saw a comment from "The Gentleman Crafter" who happened to look like my brother, whom I have not seen nor heard from in over 8 months. "Hmmmm..." I thought. So, I immediately checked out his blog and he was crediting you, for pulling him out of a funk that only we can fall into. So, I immediately jumped to your blog & so glad I did...for, I, too, was feeling kinda blah, but your "SteamPunkin" tickled my fancy! Thanks for sharing his with us. Sharon Turner
